Crazy kid

The littlest one has woken us in the wee hours two mornings in a row now—five o'clock yesterday morning, three-thirty this morning.

Teething thing, presumably. Yesterday's solution involved Daddy cuddling with him 'til he conked out again. Mommy's on the hook tonight... Ya gotta do this shift thing, pretty much, to survive this kind of thing. Dunno what single parents do, but I'm betting if their work involves heavy equipment, it's a bad scene...

Damn, my body ain't happy about this. Even when my bit for the evening just involves sitting with him a little before going back to a bed sufficiently distant from the noise, it's still pretty rough on physical and mental functions that rely on nice, stable circadian rhythms. I don't sleep much—but the few hours I get, I need...

And while, thankfully, there's no heavy equipment involved, today's work involves fun, fiddly, finite-field math for asymmetric crypto... kinda thing you do (or I do, anyway) have to be pretty durned awake to pull off...

Oh yeah. Gonna be a fun day.

Another bit

... of background stuff not gonna appear in the manuscript. And thus also probably no biggy putting it up here.

Still 'round

... just real busy. First few weeks in a new office, a lot on the go, and nursing a nagging cold which has taken up stubborn and prolonged residence in my left Eustachian tube.

Rewrites are still going good, for those who asked. But no, I dunno when it's gonna be done. Ask me in a few more weeks, maybe...

And, then again, maybe not.
