Not quite gone yet

... been messing around with software, servers, images, other stuff, trying to figure out what I want to do with the blog to be. And what with work 'n kids 'n writin' 'n everything else, it's not happening real quick as yet.

Decided a few things. I think. Pretty sure I'm going to build it from Blog:CMS. Yes, it's a fussy, insanely full-featured thingy, and the built-in designs are very not to my taste (have these people even heard of serifs?), and it doesn't look like it's the most popular thing out there... but hell, it ain't like I've ever been into using what everybody else is usin', and I like their attitude about standards. And I'm an ole' PHP hand. I can—and will—bend the system to my will.

(Cackles evilly...)

Hell, I've already posted a fix to a buggy install script. In for a penny, and all.

Overall look is coming together. I think I know where I'm goin'. Need to shoot some photos, scan a few I've only got on film. But we'll get there.

Other stuff, like domain, title, well, durn. I dunno yet. Thinking. Many possibilities. It'll get there.

In other news: to the rink today with the eldest. She's a great kid. Falls down, gets upset, shakes it off, gets up. Note the all-important 'gets up' part.

And the little guy's doing good too. Very mobile, vertical as much as crawling these days, though still no more than a few seconds at a time without holding onto something.

And work's okay; I'm settling in. And I'm still kinda sick. Going for a record, in that latter department.

More news to follow when there's a server it can live on.
